- A classical art song in Italian, French, German, Spanish, or English (UIL solo music recommended).
- A contrasting song (such as an art song, folk song arrangement, or Broadway piece).
- All selections will be accompanied by piano; a university accompanist will be provided. However, a singer may choose to use his/her own accompanist. Students will have the opportunity to briefly rehearse with the accompanist prior to the audition. Recorded or CD accompaniments are not encouraged.
- A short sight-reading excerpt (to be selected at the audition).
Band/Instrumental Area (Woodwinds and Brass):
- Two contrasting selections of your choice (region/area or solo/ensemble music recommended)
- Three memorized major scales of your choice
- A short sightreading excerpt (to be selected at the audition)
Band/Instrumental Area (Percussion):
- One etude or solo for snare drum
- One two- or four-mallet etude or solo for keyboard instrument
- One etude or solo for timpani
- A short sightreading excerpt for each instrument (to be selected at the audition)
- Drumset or rudimental excerpt optional

- On receipt of your form, you will be contacted by a member of our music faculty to schedule a scholarship audition.
- All McMurry music scholarships require an on-campus visit with audition. Exceptions can be made in extraordinary circumstances (please contact us by phone or email below).
