Both incoming transfer and freshmen students admitted to McMurry University may apply to the honors program. Applications are reviewed upon completion and offers to join the honors cohort are extended on a first come, first served basis. Applications will continue to be reviewed until the cohort is filled. Students must satisfy one of the below listed criteria to be considered eligible:
Freshmen:
27 ACT
1220 SAT
Top 5% of High School Class
3.85 High School GPA
Transfers:
3.5 Cumulative College GPA
Students who do not meet eligibility requirements, but wish to be considered for the program, may submit an honors program application. The program director will review applications holistically and extend interviews to select students.
Admission Process
Complete McMurry undergraduate application process and gain admission.
Submit the Honors Program Application within your application portal.
Submit additional application materials:
Letter of recommendation from an academic teacher
Essay no more than 500 words in length answering the question, “What do you hope to accomplish through the Honors Program and contribute to the McMurry community?” Video essays may also be submitted within the Honors Program Application.
Application materials may be submitted within the Honors Program Application itself or directly to the Office of Admission at:
Qualified applicants will receive an invitation to interview
Places in the Honors cohort will be extended on a rolling basis until the cohort has filled.

Honors student Martha Chace won Best Individual Delegate in the Commission on the Status of Women at the Global Model UN Conference in the Galapagos Islands. An English and Writing major, she is now a student at the University of Houston Law Center.
