The history elite: new inductees to McMurry’s chapter of Phi Alpha Theta celebrate with their instructors in the backyard of Prof. Don Frazier’s Abilene home.

McMurry’s Sigma Beta chapter of Phi Alpha Theta is part of a nationally-organized history honary society with chapters on over 800 college campuses across the United States. Membership is based on an overall GPA of 3.0 or better and at least 12 semester hours of history credit with an average GPA of 3.1 or better. Chapter activities have included field trips, presentation of papers at Phi Alpha Theta conferences, participation in meetings of the West Texas Historical Association, and general good fellowship with other historically-minded students and teachers.
