The McMurry University Department of English provides students with the ability to conduct literary research and report their findings, a college-level acquaintance with literary traditions, improved critical reading, and an acquaintance with linguistics and language.
The Department of English provides improved higher-level thinking skills manifested in writing and discussion. Two degrees and a minor are available: B.A. in English or a B.A. in English and Writing. Students can also choose to pursue a Minor in English.
Associated with the English Department are two organizations of interest to students: Sigma Tau Delta, a professional and national honor society for students of literature and language; and the Galleon, the literary magazine of McMurry University.
