Articulation Agreements

The Biology Department has several articulation agreements allowing seamless transition for our students into graduate programs and health professions schools.  Some of these provide guaranteed admission to students with satisfactory records at McMurry.  Others allow students to skip part or all of their senior years to get a jump start on completion of their professional preparation.  All of these represent great opportunities and value for our students and demonstrate the quality of McMurry's science programs.

Below are current agreements that may be of interest to incoming students:

  • McMurry to UTHSC-SA School of Dentistry "Dental Early Admission Program (DEAP) 3+4"[DDS]:  Pre-dentistry students apply for this program during their freshman year.  Accepted students complete three years of prescribed courses at McMurry and enter the UT Health Sciences Center-San Antonio School of Dentistry rather than returning for their McMurry senior year.  After the first year of dental school, students receive their B.S. degree in either Biochemistry, Biology, or Biomedical Science.  This allows students to complete both their McMurry bachelor's degree and Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree in a total of seven years, saving time and expense.
  • McMurry to Parker University 3+3 Program [D.C.]:  Students apply for acceptance into the Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) program at Parker University. Accepted students enter the doctoral program after their junior year at McMurry, and their first year of professional courses transfer back to complete the B.S. degree at McMurry in Biology, Biomedical Science, Life Science, or Kinesiology.
  • McMurry to Texas Chiropractic College 3+3 Program [D.C.]: Students apply for acceptance into the Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) program at Texas Chiropractic College.  Accepted students receive early admission and transfer courses back to complete their McMurry bachelor's degree in Biology, Biomedical Science, or Life Sciences.
  • McMurry to Texas Tech University School of Pharmacy 3+4 [Pharm.D.]:  Students apply for this program early in their McMurry career.  If accepted, they are able to enter the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program after their junior year.  Courses taken in pharmacy school also count toward completion of the McMurry undergraduate degree in either Biochemistry or Biomedical Science.
  • McMurry to Hardin-Simmons University School of Physical Therapy 3+3 [DPT]:  Students apply for this program early in their McMurry career.  If accepted, they are able to enter the Doctor of Physical Therapy (D.P.T) program after their junior year.  Courses taken in PT school also count toward completion of the McMurry undergraduate degree.
  • Other articulation agreements are in the works.  For information on any of these programs, contact Pre-Health Advisor Dr. Larry Sharp.

In addition, McMurry Biology encourages the transition of community college students into Biology programs by committing to maximize the prior class work toward completion of a McMurry degree.  In some instances, there are articulations with community colleges. Where these do not exist, we are eager to offer equal consideration for students entering McMurry from any other accredited college or university to maximizing credit for work completed.

Current community college-to-McMurry articulations exist with Cisco College, including one specifically for their Biotechnology program and our B.S. in Biomedical Science degree program. It should also be noted that the TTU School of Pharmacy articulation agreement can also be pursued by those beginning their college careers at a community college, allowing a pipeline for talented students that begins with community college course work and seamlessly brings students to McMurry and then on to Pharmacy school.  For more information on this and other articulations, contact Dr. Larry Sharp.
